Resumen Objetivo: Determinar la percepción del paciente quirúrgico respecto a cirugía segura basada en el checklist en un hospital público. Método: Estudio no experimental, observacional, muestra probabilística de 340 pacientes quirúrgicos, se aplicó cuestionario validado a nivel internacional adaptado a la realidad, con confiabilidad Alfa Cronbach 0,715. Resultados: Los pacientes quirúrgicos percibieron en su mayoría a la cirugía globalmente como medianamente segura (57,9%). Asimismo, percibieron medianamente segura en dimensión antes de la anestesia (48,8%), siendo la pregunta más valorada, según promedio aritmético, si tenían algún tipo de alergia, y menor acierto el ítem sobre marcado del sitio donde iban a operar. En dimensión después del acto quirúrgico la mayoría sintió inseguridad (67,7%), siendo el indicador más valorado, la recomendación del cirujano. La mayoría de los pacientes opinaron que la seguridad de los servicios en el hospital es adecuada (80,9%). Conclusiones: Los pacientes quirúrgicos de un hospital público percibieron a la cirugía basado en el checklist como medianamente segura.
Abstract Objective: Determine the perception of the surgical patient regarding safe surgery based on the checklist in a public hospital. Method: Non-experimental, observational study, probabilistic sample of 340 surgical patients, internationally validated questionnaire adapted to reality was applied, with Cronbach Alpha reliability 0.715. Results: The majority of surgical patients perceived surgery overall as moderately safe (57.9%). Likewise, they perceived themselves to be moderately safe in dimension before anesthesia (48.8%), with the question being most valued, according to the arithmetic average when asked, if they had any type of allergy and the least correct was the item regarding marking the site where they were going to operate. In dimension after the surgical act, the majority felt insecurity (67.7%), with the most valued indicator being the surgeon’s recommendation. The majority of patients thought that the safety of services in the hospital is adequate (80.9%). Conclusions: Surgical patients in a public hospital perceived surgery based on the checklist as moderately safe.
