Este artículo pretende ser una reflexión sobre la necesidad de participación del trabajador social sanitario dentro de los Comités de Ética Asistencial para el beneficio del paciente y su entorno. Al mismo tiempo, esto supone un claro empoderamiento de la propia profesión gracias al rol que ejerce el trabajador social sanitario dentro del mismo Comité de Ética Asistencial.
La presencia del profesional facilita tanto la visibilidad de la profesión al resto de colectivos profesionales, como el reconocimiento de la profesión dentro de la propia institución.
La participación del profesional de trabajo social sanitario supone una mejora en la calidad asistencial hacia el paciente y la familia; un garante a la autodeterminación de este.
This article aims to be a reflection on the need for a health social worker participation within the Healthcare Ethics Committees for the benefit of the patient and their environment. At the same time, this represents a clear empowerment of the profession itself thanks to the role played by the health social worker within the Healthcare Ethics Committee itself. The presence of the professional facilitates both the visibility of the profession to other professional groups, as well as the recognition of the profession within the institution itself.
The participation of the health social work professional means an improvement in the quality of care for the patient and the family, a guarantor of its self-determination.
