A partir de los 6 meses de vida el bebé tendrá nuevas necesidades nutricionales que se tienen que suplir con la alimentación complementaria (AC). Pero esto también entraña factores de riesgo para la salud del bebé como alergias, insuficiente aporte de nutrientes fundamentales además de potenciar un adecuado crecimiento y desarrollo neurológico, cognitivo, del tracto digestivo y del sistema neuromuscular en esta etapa de su vida.
