Con mucha frecuencia la enfermedad se presenta en el paciente geriátrico de forma atípica, mostrando una serie de características propias a este grupo de edad. Así, pueden aparecer, en vez de los síntomas habituales de una enfermedad, síntomas inespecíficos como: debilidad, anorexia, astenia, incontinencia, caídas. Estos síntomas tan imprecisos necesitarán ser interpretados tras realizar una exhaustiva valoración geriátrica del paciente, ya que en ocasiones suelen ser la primera señal de una patología grave.
Very often the disease presents in the geriatric patient in an atypical way, showing a series of characteristics typical of this age group. Thus, instead of the usual symptoms of a disease, non-specific symptoms such as: weakness, anorexia, asthenia, incontinence, falls, etc. These imprecise symptoms will need to be interpreted after carrying out a thorough geriatric assessment of the patient, sometimes they are usually the first sign of a serious pathology.
