Las infecciones del tracto urinario (ITU) son comunes tanto en hombres como en mujeres, sobre todo afectan a estas últimas. Las ITU pueden afectar a cualquier parte del sistema urinario, desde los riñones hasta la uretra, siendo más comunes en la vejiga y la uretra. Los síntomas incluyen fiebre, dolor y necesidad frecuente de orinar, y cambios en el flujo vaginal. Se dividen en no complicadas, debidas en su mayoría a la bacteria Escherichia coli, y complicadas, con duración prolongada o infecciones recurrentes. El tratamiento implica antibióticos, junto con medidas preventivas.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are common in both men and women, but they primarily affect the latter. UTIs can affect any part of the urinary system, from the kidneys to the urethra, with the bladder and urethra being the most commonly affected areas. Symptoms include fever, painful urination, frequent urination, and changes in vaginal discharge. They are divided into uncomplicated, mostly caused by the bacterium Escherichia coli, and complicated, involving prolonged duration or recurrent infections. Treatment involves antibiotics along with preventive measures.
