La biopsia renal (BR) ecodirigida es una técnica actualmente consolidada, con escasas complicaciones y fundamental en muchos procesos diagnósticos. Es bastante económica y no necesita el uso de contrastes. Al realizarse mediante un ecógrafo, permite la visualización continua de la posición de la aguja dentro del riñón, así como su colocación correcta, facilitando así la técnica.
Como personal sanitario, es importante conocer en profundidad el procedimiento, las consideraciones previas, los cuidados posteriores y las principales complicaciones, siendo las más frecuentes las hemorrágicas. Para ello, será necesario realizar un plan de cuidados al paciente que se le va a realizar la prueba diagnóstica, detectando asi los problemas y complicaciones futuras tanto a nivel físico como psicológico.
