Este trabajo se centra en analizar la relación entre el Trastorno por Déficit de Atención e Hiperactividad (TDAH) y las disfunciones visuales, como problemas binoculares y estrabismo en este grupo de población infantil. Mediante una revisión exhaustiva de la literatura, se ha identificado una prevalencia significativa de estas disfunciones visuales en niños con TDAH, lo que sugiere la necesidad de un enfoque multidisciplinar en su diagnóstico y tratamiento. Además, se discuten las posibles intervenciones a través de la terapia visual, destacando su potencial para mejorar la calidad de vida y el rendimiento académico de estos pacientes. El objetivo principal es sensibilizar a los optometristas sobre la importancia de detectar y tratar estas disfunciones visuales en niños con TDAH, para contribuir a un manejo más integral y efectivo del trastorno.
This work focuses on analyzing the relationship between Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and visual dysfunctions, such as binocular problems and strabismus in this pediatric population. Through a comprehensive literature review, a significant prevalence of these visual dysfunctions in children with ADHD has been identified, suggesting the need for a multidisciplinary approach in their diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, possible interventions through vision therapy are discussed, highlighting their potential to improve the quality of life and academic performance of these patients. The main objective is to raise awareness among optometrists about the importance of detecting and treating these visual dysfunctions in children with ADHD, to contribute to a more comprehensive and effective management of the disorder.
