La resonancia magnética de hipófisis es una técnica de imagen que se realiza a pacientes con sospecha de una tumoración hipofisaria, o presenten alteraciones del campo visual o cefaleas 1.
Esta técnica adquiere las imágenes diagnósticas a través de pulsos de radiofrecuencia o utilizando los gradientes magnéticos, por lo que no utiliza radiación ionizante.
Sin embargo, su inconveniente es que no todos los pacientes pueden realizarse este estudio por presentar una serie de inconvenientes que contraindiquen su realización o sufran de claustrofobia.
La claustrofobia es el inconveniente que más suele afectar a la no realización del estudio, pero existen alternativas para que estos pacientes puedan llegar a realizarse una resonancia magnética.
