No podemos empezar hablando de las voluntades anticipadas sin mencionar el consentimiento informado, ese permiso que un paciente otorga al profesional médico para que realice sobre su cuerpo actuaciones que de otra manera estarían violentando su derecho a la integridad física y moral que la constitución española recoge en su artículo 15. Ahora bien, hay situaciones en las que el paciente no se encuentra en condiciones de expresar sus deseos sobre aquello que deba acontecer en lo relativo a su salud y es aquí donde cobran todo su valor y sentido las voluntades anticipadas.
