Entre otras medidas es fundamental iniciar la reposición hídrica según las necesidades de cada paciente pudiendo emplear la fórmula de Parkland para su cálculo. También se debe vigilar la vía aérea, e intubar si existe compromiso respiratorio, y establecer medidas para la prevención de infecciones y control de dolor.
La enfermera desempeña un papel fundamental en el cuidado de estos pacientes, estableciendo planes de actuación individualizados, y ofreciendo apoyo emocional al paciente y su familia durante la recuperación.
