Introduction: Childhood stunting remains a pervasiveglobal health issue affecting millions of children, with sig-nificant repercussions on their physical and cognitive development.
Objective: This study aimed to collect information on di-etary guidelines and protein recommendation specifically de-signed for stunted children.
Methods: A systematic review was performed using sev-eral databases, including Pubmed, Scopus, and GoogleScholar. A literature search was conducted to collect studieson dietary guidelines (keywords: Dietary recommendation ORDietary Guidelines AND Stunting OR Stunted OR RetardedGrowth) and protein recommendation (keywords: proteinAND catch-up growth AND stunting AND children OR infant)for stunted children. This review also included a narrative re-view for additional information, Results: A total of 12 and 9 related articles were includedin this systematic review on dietary guidelines and protein in-take, respectively. This systematic review shows that proteinintake stands out as a critical determinant in stunting, withlow intake associated with growth faltering. However, guide-lines specifically tailored to manage stunting remain scarce.Current evidence suggests protein’s beneficial role in supporting linear growth, but excessive intake may contribute toobesity risk, highlighting the need for balanced recommendations.
