El RIME es un concepto de reciente aparición que se emplea para nombrar a la erupción mucocutánea infecciosa reactiva que surge como consecuencia del contacto con agentes patógenos que generalmente producen síntomas respiratorios. Si bien el más común es el Mycoplasma pneumoniae, también se encuentran estudios que asocian el RIME con el proceso infeccioso por Covid-19. Como principales características encontramos la afectación de la mucosa oral, genital y ocular y la aparición de lesiones vesículo-ampollosas en mayor o menor medida por todo el cuerpo. Estas heridas pueden comprometer la vida de la persona, y aunque no se conoce la existencia de un tratamiento estandarizado, a continuación, presentamos el caso de un niño cuya resolución completa de los síntomas se debe a la participación de un equipo multidisciplinar que se encargó de pautar y llevar a cabo los mejores cuidados posibles según la mejor evidencia científica disponible.
RIME is a recently emerging concept that is used to name the reactive infectious mucocutaneous rash that arises as a consequence of contact with pathogens that generally produce respiratory symptoms. Although the most common is Mycoplasma pneumoniae, there are also studies that associate RIME with the Covid-19 infectious process. The main characteristics are the involvement of the oral, genital and ocular mucosa and the appearance of vesicular-bullous lesions to a greater or lesser extent throughout the body. These injuries can compromise the person’s life, and although the existence of a standardized treatment is not known, below we present the case of a child whose complete resolution of symptoms is due to the participation of a multidisciplinary team that was responsible for prescribe and carry out the best possible care according to the best scientific evidence available.
