INTRODUCCIÓN: La colostomía es la exteriorización del colon a través de la pared abdominal, abocándose a la piel, creando una salida artificial para el contenido fecal. Puede ser temporal o definitiva.
OBJETIVO: El objetivo es visualizar los problemas físicos, psíquicos y sociales que derivan de ser portador de un estoma METODOLOGÍA: Se ha realizado una revisión narrativa de la última evidencia científica de revistas indexadas en las bases de datos Cochrane Library, Pubmed, Cuiden y Medline.
RESULTADOS: El paciente que va a ser ostomizado precisa de completa información ,así como de gran apoyo emocional. El apoyo moral debe ser constante, sobre todo durante los primeros días, y enfermería debe ayudar a que acepte el diagnóstico a través de la comunicación e información y conseguir que el paciente no se sienta solo, sino apoyado por todos. Con enseñanza progresiva y paulatina, el enfermo ostomizado irá cobrando seguridad. Para esto es imprescindible una amplia información, buen asesoramiento y un imprescindible apoyo por parte de todos los que le rodean.
CONCLUSIÓN: Los numerosos progresos en el campo de la cirugía, las posibilidades técnicas, el entorno médico y social, ofrecen hoy a los enterostomizados, un confort máximo tanto en el terreno físico como moral. Lo que el paciente necesita es seguridad en sí mismo. Tiene que adaptarse a la nueva situación, hacer vida normal.

Moral support must be constant, especially during the first days, and nursing must help to accept the diagnosis through communication and information and ensure that the patient does not feel alone, but supported by everyone.
With progressive and gradual teaching, the ostomized patient will gain security. For this, extensive information, good advice and essential support from everyone around you is essential.
CONCLUSION: The numerous advances in the field of surgery, the technical possibilities, the medical and social environment, today offer enterostomized patients maximum comfort in both physical and moral fields. What the patient needs is self-confidence. He has to adapt to the new situation, lead a normal life.
