    INTRODUCCIÓN: En la actualidad, es el cáncer más frecuentemente diagnosticado en la población española (16% del total entre hombres y mujeres). El principal factor de riesgo es la edad. Hay que tener en cuenta los antecedentes familiares, los pólipos intestinales y la enfermedad inflamatoria intestinal. Otros factores importantes son los ambientales.

    OBJETIVO: El objetivo es sintetizar la evidencia científica sobre la actualización del cáncer colorrectal.

    METODOLOGÍA: Se ha realizado una revisión narrativa de la última evidencia científica de revistas indexadas en las bases de datos Cochrane Library, Pubmed, Cuiden y Medline.

    RESULTADOS: La mayoría de los pacientes con cáncer colorrectal se diagnostican en fases avanzadas, debido a que no suele dar síntomas. Dependiendo de la localización del tumor la clínica puede ser distinta. El único tratamiento curativo es la cirugía. La prevención tiene un papel fundamental para el pronóstico de la enfermedad.

    CONCLUSIÓN: Es primordial conocer y diferenciar los distintos tipos de cáncer colorrectal y la sintomatología que produce cada uno de ellos.

    INTRODUCTION: Currently, it is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in the Spanish population (16% of the total between men and women). The main risk factor is age. Family history, intestinal polyps, and inflammatory bowel disease must be taken into account. Other important factors are environmental ones.

    OBJETIVE: The objective is to synthesize the scientific evidence on the colorectal cancer update.

    METHODOLOGY: A narrative review of the latest scientific evidence from journals indexed in the Cochrane Library, Pubmed, Cuiden and Medline databases has been carried out.

    RESULTS: Most patients with colorectal cancer are diagnosed in advanced stages, because they usually do not present symptoms. depending on the location of the tumor the clinic can be different. The only curative treatment is surgery. Prevention plays a fundamental role in the prognosis of the disease.

    CONCLUSION: It is essential to know and differentiate the different types of colorectal cancer and the symptoms that each of them produce.
