Efectividad de la neuroestimulación eléctrica transcutánea (TENS) en pacientes que padecen fibromialgia.

    Introducción: La fibromialgia es considerada un síndrome doloroso crónico del aparato locomotor, que se caracteriza por alodinia táctil sin inflamación y anormalidades en las estructuras musculoesqueléticas, que causan en el paciente un estado de dolor permanente e invalidante. El TENS es un tratamiento de fisioterapia no invasivo, que utiliza la corriente de baja frecuencia con fines terapéuticos y que tiene efectos beneficiosos en el tratamiento del dolor agudo y crónico, repercutiendo de forma positiva la fibromialgia.

    Objetivo: Hallar y analizar los documentos científicos relevantes de la neuroestimulación eléctrica transcutánea empleada en pacientes con fibromialgia.

    Conclusiones: Se verifica que las diferentes técnicas realizadas por un fisioterapeuta mencionadas en los ensayos son efectivas y beneficiosas para el tratamiento en pacientes que padecen fibromialgia, destacando y como objeto de estudio principal la estimulación nerviosa eléctrica transcutánea.

    Introduction: Fibromyalgia is considered a chronic painful syndrome of the locomotor system, characterized by tactile allodynia without inflammation and abnormalities in the musculoskeletal structures, which cause the patient a state of permanent and disabling pain. TENS is a non-invasive physiotherapy treatment, which uses low frequency current for therapeutic purposes and has beneficial effects in the treatment of acute and chronic pain, having a positive impact on fibromyalgia.

    Objective: To find and analyze the relevant scientific papers on transcutaneous electrical neurostimulation used in patients with fibromyalgia.

    Conclusions: It is verified that the different techniques performed by a physiotherapist mentioned in the trials are effective and beneficial for the treatment in patients suffering from fibromyalgia, highlighting and as the main object of study the transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation.
