El síncope representa un síntoma común en las salas de emergencia. Esta patología es un reto diagnóstico y terapéutico para el personal médico y de enfermería. El personal de enfermería cumple un papel fundamental en el manejo de estos pacientes en las distintas fases de atención en el área de urgencias. El objetivo de este trabajo es estudiar el papel del personal de enfermería en la atención del paciente con sincope. Los términos utilizados para la búsqueda fueron: “syncope”, “emergencies”, “emergency”, “nursin” y “nurse”. Los resultados indican que el profesional de enfermería en el área de urgencias es una herramienta clave en la atención del paciente con sincope. Dentro de las principales actuaciones de enfermería en la atención del paciente con síncope en el servicio de urgencia se encuentra el realizar un historial clínico detallado, determinar si el paciente requiere una evaluación adicional y clasificar a los pacientes que se beneficiarían de una monitorización y hospitalización intensivas.
Syncope is a common symptom in emergency rooms. This pathology is a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge for medical and nursing staff. The nursing staff plays a fundamental role in the management of these patients in the different phases of care in the emergency department. The objective of this work is to study the role of nursing personnel in the care of patients with syncope. A bibliographic review was carried out in PubMed, the Cochrane Library, and in the Virtual Health Library (VHL). The terms used for the search were: «syncope», «emergencies», «emergency», «nursin» and «nurse». The review was performed following the PRISMA endpoints. A total of 230 articles were obtained, of which 10 full-text articles were selected, published in the last 10 years, both in English and Spanish, whose population was made up of patients with syncope, where research protocols and protocols were applied. studies on nursing actions, interventions and care in these patients. The results indicate that the nursing professional in the emergency area is a key tool in the care of the patient with syncope. Among the main nursing actions in the care of the patient with syncope in the emergency department is to carry out a detailed clinical history, determine if the patient requires additional evaluation and classify the patients who would benefit from intensive monitoring and hospitalization.
