El tiroides es una glándula, con dos lóbulos laterales y un lóbulo central periférico (istmo), en forma de herradura o alas de mariposa que se localiza en la porción inferior del cuello, por delante de la tráquea, entre el cartílago cricoides y los primeros anillos traqueales. Está constituido por tejido glandular. Esta glándula está abundantemente irrigada, por las arterias tiroideas superior, media e inferior.
The thyroid is a gland, with two lateral lobes and a peripheral central lobe (isthmus), shaped like a horseshoe or butterfly wings, located in the lower portion of the neck, in front of the trachea, between the cricoid cartilage and the first tracheal rings. It is made up of glandular tissue. This gland is abundantly supplied by the superior, middle and inferior thyroid arteries.
