Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is the etiology of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-COV-2). COVID-19 mainly attacks the lungs, but has been shown to affect other important organs, so it is treated more widely. It releases cytokines into the body by activating the inflammatory cascade, thus damaging the blood-brain barrier and exposing the brain to inflammatory cells, and if states of excessive stress are added to it, it causes an abnormality in the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, modifying the adaptive subsystems that generate emotions of anguish (sadness, irritability and anxiety). 45% of the health workers presented these symptoms, which meant a decrease in their self-efficacy and self-efficiency at work, affecting their well-being, dehumanizing patients and avoiding sad or negative emotions.
The objective of our study is to find out the effect of COVID-19 on psycho-emotional health in health workers from the pulmonology, urology and internal medicine wards of the Miguel Servet University Hospital and the San Pablo, Actur Norte and Fuentes Health Centers. from Ebro.
A qualitative study will be carried out with a phenomenological approach, collecting information through the lived experiences of the participants. The selection of these will be made using the convenience sampling strategy following the predetermined criteria. Information will be collected through a semi-structured interview, standardized scales and through the cooperation of a participant as an observer.
