La Pielonefritis Aguda es un proceso urológico que cursa con una infección localizada a nivel de riñón que es causada en su mayoría por bacterias que ascienden desde la vejiga. Es el tipo de infección más grave que puede afectar a las vías urinarias.
Afecta con mayor frecuencia a las mujeres. Si se trata a tiempo y de forma adecuada, suele curarse sin dejar secuelas en el paciente, en cambio si sigue su curso, puede haber complicaciones y producir lesiones que atrofien el riñón pudiendo llevar incluso a una septicemia.
El papel de enfermería es fundamental en la valoración, tratamiento y seguimiento de la enfermedad y del paciente. A propósito del siguiente caso, se van a exponer a partir de un Plan de Cuidados de Enfermería los diagnósticos, intervenciones y actividades encaminados a tratar la Pielonefritis Aguda.
