El VIH (virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana) es un virus de gran importancia por ser la causa de la patología denominada Síndrome de Inmunodeficiencia Adquirida (SIDA). Su incidencia a nivel mundial es alta y las complicaciones asociadas a la enfermedad pueden ser graves, afectando a todas las esferas vitales del paciente.
Esta enfermedad cobra una gran importancia para la profesión enfermera, ya que son esenciales tanto la prevención de la misma, como los cuidados dirigidos a un buen control de los síntomas en cada una de sus fases.
Por ello, debemos conocer cómo funciona la enfermedad y cuales son sus implicaciones, para poder identificar las tareas a realizar, desde un abordaje multidisciplinar de la patología.
HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a really important virus, due to being the cause of the disease known as Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Its incidence worldwide is high, and the complications associated with the disease can be severe, affecting all patient’s vital spheres.
This disease is highly important for the nursing profession, since both its prevention and care aimed at a good control of the symptoms in each of its phases are essential.
Therefore, we must know how the disease works and what its implications are, in order to identify the tasks to be performed, from a multidisciplinary approach to the pathology.
