Silvia es la madre de Lucía. Su vida ha dado un giro desde que diagnosticaron a Lucía de diabetes, a los tres años. Este trabajo recoge el relato de Silvia sobre su vivencia del primer ingreso tras el diagnóstico, sobre la difícil vuelta a casa y el escaso apoyo que percibe del sistema sanitario y de sus profesionales. Su vida cotidiana, su familia, su situación económica, todo se ha visto salpicado por la diabetes, pero Silvia afronta el futuro, junto a su marido, con valentía y coraje, por amor a Lucía.
Silvia is Lucía's mother. Her life has taken a turn since Lucia was diagnosed with diabetes, at the age of three. This paper presents Silvia's account on the experience she went through when Lucía went into hospital for the first time after her diagnostic, on her difficult return home and the meagre support she gets from the health system and from its professionals. Her everyday life, her family, her economic situation, everything has been affected by Lucia's diabetes, but Silvia faces the future, together with her husband, with bravery and courage, for the love of Lucía.
