La idea de los encuentros intergeneracionales surgió de experiencias previas por parte de la Directora y Enfermera del centro. Buscando asesoramiento, organizamos un estudio sobre la estimulación cognitiva en personas mayores con demencia en fases avanzadas y en los niños buscamos el resaltar la inteligencia interpersonal, promoviendo mayor conocimiento, tolerancia y respeto entre las generaciones participantes.
Realizamos una planificación de los encuentros, con un calendario de reuniones entre guardería y profesionales del centro, padres y madres. Se establecieron unos encuentros con periodicidad cada 15 días. Cada encuentro seguía la misma dinámica. Cada niño tiene asignado un mayor con un total de 8 grupos niño-mayor. Trabajamos el manejo de las ABVD: deambulaciones, vestirse/ desvestirse, alimentación: talleres de cocina en conjunto, pintura creativa, eliminación con la retirada del pañal en niños con un éxito del 100%.
Somos conscientes que los resultados son mayormente de carácter cualitativo no cuantitativo por la muestra tan pequeña, pero los resultados observados tanto en niños como en mayores e incluso en los profesionales que hemos participado han sido increíbles. Todos hemos disfrutado mucho, los sentimientos de cariño, alegría, juego, diversión, mis abuelitos, nos dan alegría de vivir... Creo que son razón suficiente para divulgar este estudio y continuarlo en un futuro para conseguir aportar más datos.
The idea of intergenerational meetings came up prior experiences of the director of the Center and the nurse. We carried out a small study of cognitive stimulation therapy for both older people who are in the advanced stages of dementia and children. We looked to emphasize the children’s interpersonal intelligence by providing support for acquiring better knowledge, tolerance and respect between the participating generations.
We scheduled of the meetings in accordance with the timetable of meetings between day nursery, professionals from the center and parents. The meetings were held every 15 days. Each of them followed the same structure. Each child was assigned an elderly person with a total of 8 groups that were formed by one child one old person. We worked the ability to perform on the basic activities of daily living (BADL) such as dressing (being able to dress and undress), eating (being able to feed one self ), transferring (being able to walk). In addition to the cookery workshop, in which elderly person and child participated together; creative painting, continence being able to control their bowels and bladder and getting the child out of nappies. In view of this, we achieved 100% success.
Although we are aware of this results are mainly qualitative not quantitative due to the sample was too small, outcomes observed among children, the elderly and even professionals who have participated have been remarkable.
All of us have enjoyed a lot. Feelings such as affection, happiness, entertainment and my grandparents give us the joy of being alive.
For that, in my opinion, these are more than enough reasons to make public this study and continue it in future in order to provide more data.
