* Flibanserin (Addyi) is the first drug approved to treat hypoactive sexual desire disorder. It is approved for use only in premenopausal women and must be taken nightly.
* In clinical trials flibanserin treatment increased the number of satisfying sexual events by one-half to one event per month over placebo.
* Alcohol use is contraindicated when taking flibanserin because it can cause significant hypotension and syncope. Significant drug–drug interactions are also possible.
