• According to this study:

  * Repeated requests by surgeons were five times as likely in operating rooms (ORs) where music was playing, compared with music-free ORs.

  * Each repeated request increased surgery time as well, from four to 68 seconds.

  * Playing music in the OR can lead to miscommunication or delays in communication, potentially compromising patient safety.
