Abstract (Teaching care) This narrative takes place in an adult internal medicine unit belonging to a tertiary Chilean hospital where nursing clinical teaching for beginning students is performed. It describes various activities that develop students with patients under the close supervision of the nurse, who teaches them the daily care for patients that includes not only technical procedures, but also the attitudinal aspects related with care. This situation leads to the nurse-teachers to wonder what is the best model for teaching? The main contribution of this narrative is that it delivers a different view on what has been written about care, since the nurse-teacher plays a role similar to the clinic nurse, and though not competing may differ in the way they deliver patient care. This simultaneity becomes more complex when added to the nurse-patient and nurse-student interactions, a third relationship student-patient, valuable but not always considered.
