This purpose of this study was to enhance understanding of the living experience of feeling bored. Parse�s phenomenologicalhermeneutic research method was used to answer the research question: What is the structure of the living experience of feeling bored? Participants were 10 older adults; half were living in a long-term care facility, and the other half were living in their own homes. Data were collected with dialogical engagement. The major finding of the study is the structure: Feeling bored is wearisome dullness surfacing with uplifting engagements while prevailing with fortitude amid the uninspiring. Feeling bored is discussed in relation to the principles of humanbecoming and in relation to how it can inform nursing research and practice.
