Introduction: Motherhood in youth represents a life event that profoundly transforms women's lives. Reconciliation is understood as the process by which women attempt to balance motherhood with other responsibilities. It involves a constant effort to balance the demands of childcare and raising a child with the demands of the educational environment and social life. Method: A descriptive and correlational study design was used with 50 participants. The instrument used was a survey of university students' perceptions of motherhood, yielding a Cronbach's alpha of .743. Objective: To determine how motherhood, studies, and social life are reconciled among young mothers studying nursing at a university in Zacatecas. Results: The majority of participants were women (88.0%), with a mean age of 20.78 ± 3.79 years. 82% were single, 40% were in their first semester, 82% were students, and 68.0% reported not having children. Balancing motherhood, studies, and social life is moderate and presents significant challenges. Students perceive difficulties in their work and academic lives, although they do not consider them entirely limiting, with neutral or disagreeing stances predominating regarding ideas of discrimination or dropping out of school. There is limited knowledge and perception of institutional or social support. Conclusions: Motherhood presents significant challenges; however, it is not perceived as an absolute impediment to continuing university studies.
