Objetivos: comparar los nutrientes energéticos, las puntuaciones de diversidad dietética (DDS) y el desarrollo físico (BMIZ, WZ, HZ) de niños con síndrome de Williams (WS) y con desarrollo neurológico normal (NT).
Métodos: se revisaron las historias clínicas de los niños con WS y NT que habían visitado el Servicio de Pediatría del Hospital Infantil de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Zhejiang de enero a septiembre de 2023 y se dividieron en tres grupos de edad (1-3 años, 3-6 años y > 6 años). Se compararon la ingesta dietética y el desarrollo físico de los niños con WS y NT.
Resultados: hubo diferencias estadísticamente significativas en la ingesta de energía total, proteínas y carbohidratos, así como en el porcentaje de ingesta de carbohidratos y la puntuación DDS total entre los tres grupos de niños con WS (p < 0,05). Comparados con los niños de la misma edad con NT, los niños de 1-3 años con WS tenían una DDS total menor; los niños de 3-6 años con WS tenían valores menores de BMIZ, WZ, ingesta total de energía, ingesta de lípidos, ingesta de carbohidratos y porcentaje de ingesta de grasa; y los niños de > 6 años con WS tenían niveles más bajos de ingesta grasa, de porcentajes de ingesta de grasas y proteínas, y de puntuación DDS total (p < 0,05).
Conclusión: los hallazgos subrayan la necesidad de vigilar y mejorar el estado nutricional y los hábitos alimentarios de los niños con WS en los diferentes grupos de edad
Objective: a comparison of energy nutrients, dietary diversity scores (DDS), and physical development (BMIZ, WZ, HZ) between children with Williams syndrome (WS) and neurotypical (NT) developing children.
Methods: children with WS and NT who visited the Child Health Care Department of Children’s Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine from January to September 2023 were collected and divided into three age groups (1-3 years, 3-6 years, and > 6 years). The dietary intake and physical development of children with WS and NT were compared.
Results: there were statistically significant differences in total energy, protein, and carbohydrate intake, as well as carbohydrate intake percentage and DDS total score among the three groups of WS children (p < 0.05). Compared to age-matched NT children, the 1-3 years-old WS children had a lower DDS total score; the 3-6 years-old WS children had lower BMIZ, WZ, total energy intake, fat intake, carbohydrate intake, and fat intake percentage; and the > 6 years-old WS children had lower fat intake, protein and fat intake percentages, and DDS total score (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: the findings underscore the necessity of monitoring and improving the nutritional status and eating habits of WS children across different age groups
