The relationship between mental health and physical therapy has gained relevance in recent years, acknowledging that mental disorders have a physical dimension that can be addressed through movement and body function. This bibliographic review aims to analyze the available scientific evidence on physiotherapeutic interventions for the treatment and support of individuals with mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia, among others. A search was conducted in scientific databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane Library, selecting articles published between 2015 and 2025. Results show that physical activity and specific physiotherapeutic techniques—such as therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and postural reeducation—can significantly improve quality of life, mood, physical functionality, and treatment adherence in patients with mental illnesses. Physical therapy emerges as a complementary and non-invasive approach contributing to the comprehensive management of mental health. However, limitations were identified in the quantity and quality of studies, highlighting the need for more rigorous future research.
