Durante el transporte extrahospitalario de pacientes pediátricos y neonatales son necesarios dispositivos de sujeción específicos, uno de ellos es el Kangoofix. Estos deben de garantizar la seguridad del menor, la del equipo asistencial y además deben de cumplir con la normativa vigente. En Europa, las ambulancias y su equipamiento deben ajustarse a la UNE-EN 1789. El transporte sanitario de neonatos y lactantes se convierte en un reto por su tamaño, su vulnerabilidad anatómica y fisiológica, así como por la necesidad de mantener estabilidad térmica y hemodinámica durante el traslado. En este contexto, el sistema de retención neonatal Kangoofix se ha posicionado como una opción para asegurar al recién nacido sobre la camilla de la ambulancia, así como el traslado junto con el progenitor cuando está indicado1, 3.
La enfermería extrahospitalaria desempeña un rol central en el uso del Kangoofix, ya que su colocación y supervisión forman parte de las competencias de este personal. A través de este artículo se busca analizar la seguridad, eficacia y utilidad del Kangoofix en el contexto extrahospitalario, así como reflexionar sobre la importancia de su implementación rutinaria.
Specific restraint devices are required for the out-of-hospital transport of pediatric and neonatal patients, one of which is the Kangoofix. They must guarantee the safety of the child and the healthcare team and must also comply with current regulations. In Europe, ambulances and their equipment must comply with UNE-EN 1789. The medical transport of newborns and infants is challenging due to their size, anatomical and physiological vulnerability, and the need to maintain thermal and hemodynamic stability during transport. In this context, the Kangoofix neonatal restraint system has positioned itself as an option for securing newborns on ambulance stretchers, as well as for transporting them together with their parents when indicated.
Outpatient nursing plays a central role in the use of Kangoofix, as its placement and monitoring are part of the responsibilities of this personnel. This article seeks to analyze the safety, efficacy, and usefulness of Kangoofix in the outpatient setting, as well as to reflect on the importance of its routine implementation.
