Las infecciones cutáneas consituyen uno de los motivos más comunes de consulta en centros de salud y hospitales, siendo habitualmente causadas por bacterias como Staphylococcus aureus y Streptococcus pyogenes. Los artículos revisados exponen que los antibióticos tópicos, como la mupirocina y el ácido fusídico, son eficaces en infecciones superficiales localizadas como impétigo y foliculitis leve. Los antibióticos tópicos son eficaces en infecciones cutáneas superficiales y localizadas, frente a los orales que lo son más en casos donde son extensas, profundas o con síntomas sistémicos.

The reviewed articles show that topical antibiotics, such as mupirocin and fusidic acid, are effective in localized superficial infections such as impetigo and mild folliculitis. Topical antibiotics are effective in superficial and localized skin infections, while oral antibiotics are more effective in cases where the infections are extensive, deep, or with systemic symptoms.
