La sinusitis es la inflamación de los senos paranasales, cavidades situadas en los huesos del cráneo que se comunican con las fosas nasales. Puede ser causada por infecciones virales, bacterianas, alérgenos o contaminantes ambientales.
A pesar de ser raramente una patología que conlleva unas consecuencias graves para la salud, afecta a la calidad de vida, por lo que por ello es clave que, al afectar a una parte anatómica del sistema respiratorio fundamental sistema para la vida, se lleve un control adecuado por parte del personal del sistema sanitario con el fin de resolver dicha situación con la mayor rapidez y eficacia minimizando las consecuencias de dicha patología.
