Paciente de 16 años, vive con sus padres y su hermano. Ha sido ingresada varias veces por trastorno de conducta alimentaria (TCA). Es traída nuevamente a urgencias tras un desmayo. Presenta bajo estado de ánimo, aislamiento, rechazo a comer y beber, e infección bucodental.
Este caso muestra la complejidad de los TCA en adolescentes, donde la atención debe ser integral: física, emocional, educativa y familiar. Requiere estrategias centradas en el paciente y el entorno para lograr una recuperación sostenida.
A 16-year-old patient lives with her parents and brother. She has been hospitalized several times for an eating disorder (ED). She is brought back to the emergency room after fainting. She presents with low mood, isolation, refusal to eat and drink, and an oral infection.
This case demonstrates the complexity of EDs in adolescents, where care must be comprehensive: physical, emotional, educational, and family-related. It requires patient- and community-centered strategies to achieve sustained recovery.
