Resumen de Hematoma sofocante en cirugía de tiroides

  Se presenta el caso de un paciente de 69 años de edad que se interviene de tiroidectomía total y que experimenta una hemorragia postquirúrgica que se diagnostica como hematoma sofocante. Se reinterviene al paciente de urgencia para localizar el punto sangrante y controlar la hemorragia. El paciente es trasladado a la UCI intubado para su mejor control en el postoperatorio.

  Este caso refleja la complejidad del manejo de esta complicación y la elevada morbimortalidad asociada.

  We present a case of a 69-year-old man who underwent a total thyroidectomy and who suffers a postsurgical hemorrhage with a compromised airway. Emergency surgery is performed again after this complication to locate the bleeding and to control the hemorrhage. The patient is moved to the ICU intubated for a better management of the postoperative care.

  This case shows the complexity of the management of this complication and the high morbimortality associated whit it.
