La agitación psicomotriz y el delirium son desafíos frecuentes en entornos hospitalarios, especialmente en pacientes mayores o críticos. La contención farmacológica, aunque efectiva, plantea dilemas éticos y legales. Esta revisión bibliográfica analiza el papel de la enfermería en la administración de contenciones farmacológicas, el tratamiento del delirium y las limitaciones éticas asociadas. Los resultados destacan la necesidad de protocolos claros, formación continua y un enfoque centrado en el paciente para garantizar una atención ética y efectiva.
Psychomotor agitation and delirium are common challenges in hospital settings, especially in elderly or critically ill patients. Pharmacological restraints, although effective, pose ethical and legal dilemmas. This literature review analyzes the role of nursing in the administration of pharmacological restraints, the treatment of delirium, and the associated ethical limitations. The results highlight the need for clear protocols, ongoing training, and a patient-centered approach to ensure ethical and effective care.
