El uso de la telemedicina, también en contextos rurales, puede representar una oportunidad para promover un enfoque integral y coherente de la salud, mejorando la eficiencia en la gestión de los recursos sanitarios teniendo en cuenta la realidad demográfica y profesional que vive este entorno. Para ello, las personas que viven y trabajan en este medio deberían ser el foco de la transformación digital, de forma que la implementación de esta herramienta no promueva mayor desigualdad, limite la brecha digital, y consiga vencer la manifiesta resistencia al uso de la telemedicina en un ámbito en el que el contacto interpersonal, la relación humana y el conocimiento del entorno han sido siempre prioritarios. Además de las oportunidades y aplicaciones, se presentan algunos de los desafíos a los que se enfrenta este complemento asistencial e ideas para abordarlos.
The use of telemedicine, even in rural contexts, can represent an opportunity to promote a comprehensive and coherent approach to health, improving the efficiency in the management of healthcare resources while considering the demographic and professional reality of this environment. To this end, the people who live and work in this setting should be the focus of digital transformation, so that the implementation of this tool does not promote greater inequality, limits the digital divide, and manages to overcome the evident resistance to the use of telemedicine in an area in which interpersonal contact, human relationships, and knowledge of the environment have always been priorities. In addition to the opportunities and applications, some of the challenges faced by this complementary healthcare are presented, along with ideas to address them.
