El celador, en el desempeño de sus funciones, está encargado de recibir al paciente que entra al hospital en numerosos servicios, para orientarle, ofrecer cierta información que lo ubique donde esté citado o darle autorización de paso a determinadas zonas o unidades. La actuación del celador será determinante para dar un servicio satisfactorio tanto al paciente como al usuario que llega a los servicios hospitalarios.
