Paciente varón de 59 años de edad, con adenocarcinoma pulmonar en estadio IV en progresión tras dos líneas de tratamiento. Ingresa en la Unidad de Cuidados Paliativos por deterioro del estado general, vómitos, inestabilidad de la marcha y dolor cervical y lumbar mal controlados.
Durante su ingreso se objetiva carcinomatosis meníngea como principal causa de la situación clínica actual.
Se informa al paciente y a la esposa sobre la indicación de no pautar más tratamientos de quimioterapia y centrar el objetivo en el control sintomático y confort del paciente (lo expresa él mismo). El paciente ha sido tratado en su domicilio.
59 year old male patient with stage IV lung adenocarcinoma in progression after two lines of treatment. He was admitted to the Palliative Care Unit due to deterioration in general condition, vomiting, gait instability, and poorly controlled cervical and lumbar pain.
During his admission, meningeal carcinomatosis was observed as the main cause of the current clinical situation.
The patient and wife are informed about the indication not to prescribe more chemotherapy treatments and to focus the objective on the symptomatic control and comfort of the patient (expressed by the patient himself). The patient has been treated at home.
