Paciente de 25 años proveniente de la unidad de día especializada en trastornos de la conducta alimentaria, acude a urgencias con el objetivo de ingresar en la unidad de agudos de salud mental del hospital debido a una pérdida sustancial de peso, alcanzando un IMC de 14.
La paciente fue diagnosticada de TCA en la temprana adolescencia, y pese al paso de los años y el ingreso en diversas unidades y recursos, permanece con un alto grado de distorsión corporal, encontrándose en los últimos meses en un período de sufrimiento intenso y por consiguiente, practicándose acciones compensatorias tras las ingestas, además de restrictivas, que la han llevado a alcanzar un bajo peso, afectando así a la paciente en muchas las esferas de su vida.
El objetivo durante el ingreso en la unidad de psiquiatría es elaborar un plan de cuidados que incluya la ganancia ponderal, ajuste de tratamiento si precisa, y terapias impartidas por psiquiatría y psicología para poder hacer frente a la distorsión corporal y la ansiedad que le provoca la ganancia de peso.
A 25-year-old patient from the day-unit specialized in eating disorders, goes to the emergency room with the aim of being admitted to the acute mental health unit of the hospital due to substantial weight loss, reaching a BMI of 14.
The patient was diagnosed with eating disorders in her early adolescence, and despite the passage of time and admission to various units and resources, she remains with a high degree of body distortion, finding herself in recent months in a period of intense suffering and therefore , practicing compensatory actions after intake, as well as fasting, which have led her to reach a low weight, thus affecting her in many spheres of her life.
The goal during admission to the psychiatry unit is to develop a care plan that includes weight gain, adjustment of treatment if necessary, and therapies provided by psychiatry and psychology to deal with body distortion and anxiety caused by the weight gain.
