Las enfermedades pulmonares intersticiales (EPI) engloban un conjunto de patologías que afectan el intersticio pulmonar, provocando inflamación y fibrosis que comprometen la función respiratoria. Esta revisión aborda la fisiología y anatomía del intersticio pulmonar, las principales categorías de EPI, las características clínicas de los pacientes, las etapas de la enfermedad y las estrategias terapéuticas actuales. Se enfatiza el rol fundamental del personal de enfermería en la detección temprana, manejo y educación del paciente con EPI.
Interstitial lung diseases (ILD) encompass a set of pathologies that affect the pulmonary interstitium, causing inflammation and fibrosis that compromise respiratory function. This review addresses the physiology and anatomy of the pulmonary interstitium, the main categories of ILD, the clinical characteristics of patients, the stages of the disease and current therapeutic strategies. The fundamental role of nursing staff in the early detection, management and education of patients with ILD is emphasized.
