El paciente seleccionado para llevar a cabo este plan de cuidados es un hombre de 43 años que padece Esclerosis Múltiple Secundaria progresiva. El hecho que hace especial este caso es que según las estadísticas la esclerosis múltiple es mucho más frecuente en mujeres jóvenes que en hombres. Además, el paciente seleccionado rechazó el tratamiento y estuvo casi 20 años sin querer que nadie le tratase e incluso se saltaba las revisiones que le correspondían. Cuando vio que la situación había empeorado, volvió a la consulta de neurología donde le dieron la noticia de que la esclerosis había avanzado más de lo que debería a causa de su tozudez por no querer tratamiento médico con el interferón. En el anexo 1 adjunto historias clínicas del paciente en el año 2000 y en el año 2019.
The patient selected to carry out this care plan is a 43 year old man who suffers from Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. The fact that makes this case special is that according to statistics, multiple sclerosis is much more common in Young women than in men. Furthermore, the selected patient refused the treatment and spent almost 20 years without wanting anyone to treat him and even skipped the check-ups he was due. When he saw that the situation had worsened, he returned to the neurology clinic where he was told that his sclerosis had advanced more than it should have due to his stubbornness for not wanting medical treatment with interferón. In annex 1 I attach the patient’s medical records in the year 2000 and in the year 2019.
