Hablar de la hospitalización de un recién nacido es un proceso complejo, si bien en la unidad neonatal se garantiza el cuidado del neonato, ¿Quién garantiza el bienestar de la madre del recién nacido hospitalizado en el transcurso de su permanencia en la unidad neonatal?; y sobre todo durante su puerperio; el cual puede ser fisiológico o quirúrgico con o sin complicaciones, ¿quién le brinda un cuidado holístico que le ayude a hacer más llevadera la transición de este proceso? Su recuperación física, emocional y psicológica, sumado a la hospitalización de su hijo (a) recién nacido generan en la mujer desequilibrio de su bienestar. Por ello, los profesionales de enfermería y/o equipo multidisciplinario de salud deben brindar cuidado a la madre de un recién nacido hospitalizado en la unidad neonatal, porque la madre además de vivir su proceso de puerperio puede experimentar sufrimiento al dejar a su hijo hospitalizado. Ante ello, surge el objetivo de reflexionar sobre las implicancias para enfermería que ocasiona la hospitalización del recién nacido, el puerperio y las necesidades maternas para mitigar su sufrimiento
Talking about the hospitalization of a newborn is a complex process, although the care of the newborn is guaranteed in the neonatal unit. Who guarantees the well-being of the mother of the hospitalized newborn during their stay in the neonatal unit? and especially during her postpartum period; which can be physiological or surgical with or without complications, who provides holistic care to help make the transition of this process more bearable? Her physical, emotional and psychological recovery, added to the hospitalization of her newborn child, create an imbalance in her well-being. Therefore, nursing professionals and/or a multidisciplinary health team must provide care to the mother of a newborn hospitalized in the neonatal unit, because the mother, in addition to experiencing the postpartum process, may experience suffering when leaving her child hospitalized. Given this, the objective arises to reflect on the implications for nursing caused by the hospitalization of the newborn, the postpartum period and the maternal needs to mitigate their suffering.
