El fenómeno de Cozen de las fracturas metafisarias de tibia proximal es una complicación mediante la cual se produce el sobrecrecimiento de dicha región generando una angulación en valgo de la tibia. El manejo habitual suele ser el tratamiento conservador mediante reducción de la fractura e inmovilización con yeso durante 6-8 semanas. Sin embargo, se debe individualizar a cada paciente a la hora de decidir el curso terapéutico a seguir. En caso de optar por tratamiento quirúrgico, se prefiere la hemiepifisiodesis si aún hay suficiente crecimiento remanente.

Cozen’s phenomenon is a complication of metaphyseal fractures of the proximal tibia through which overgrowth of said region occurs, generating a valgus angulation of the tibia. The usual management is usually conservative treatment by reducing the fracture and immobilization with a cast for 6-8 weeks. However, each patient must be individualized when deciding the therapeutic course to follow. If surgical treatment is chosen, hemi-epiphysiodesis is preferred if there is still enough remaining growth.
