La reconstrucción mamaria promueve el bienestar psicológico de las pacientes que, por múltiples causas, se han sometido a una cirugía de mama. La pigmentación, como última fase del proceso, permite alcanzar el color y la forma del pezón y la areola.
Los objetivos de la revisión son describir el proceso de pigmentación mamaria como finalidad principal y, como objetivos secundarios analizar el proceso de reconstrucción mamaria, especificando en qué fase tiene lugar la pigmentación, referir qué profesionales participan en el proceso de pigmentación mamaria y exponer los beneficios de la pigmentación mamaria.
Se realiza una búsqueda de artículos publicados en los 10 últimos años en inglés y español sobre pigmentación mamaria en las bases de datos CINAHL, PUBMED, SCOPUS, SCIENCEDIRECT y WEB OF SCIENCE. Se encuentran 233 artículos y, tras aplicar los artículos de inclusión y exclusión se extraen 22 investigaciones.
La pigmentación mamaria es segura y efectiva, ofreciendo notables beneficios para el paciente a nivel físico y psicológico. La técnica de pigmentación tridimensional es la más realista y, por lo tanto, la que logra resultados más estéticos.
Se echa en falta más investigación sobre los niveles de satisfacción antes y después de la pigmentación para poder cuantificar los efectos del procedimiento.
La pigmentación es recomendable para los pacientes que se someten a reconstrucción mamaria y debe ser practicada por profesionales especializados que se han de integrar a los equipos multidisciplinares que participan en el proceso de reconstrucción.
Breast reconstruction promotes the psychological well-being of patients who, due to multiple causes, have undergone breast surgery. Micropigmentation, as the last phase of the process, allows to reach the color and shape of the nipple and areola.
The objectives of the review are to describe the process of breast micropigmentation as the main purpose and, as secondary objectives to analyze the process of breast reconstruction, specifying at what stage micropigmentation takes place, to refer which professionals participate in the process of breast micropigmentation and to expose the benefits of breast micropigmentation.
A search of articles published in the last 10 years in English and Spanish on breast micropigmentation is performed in the CINAHL, PUBMED, SCOPUS, SCIENCEDIRECT and WEB OF SCIENCE databases. 233 articles are found and, inclusion and exclusion articles are applied, 22 investigations are extracted.
Breast micropigmentation is safe and effective, notable benefits for the patient physically and psychologically. The three-dimensional micropigmentation technique is the most realistic and, therefore, the one that achieves the most aesthetic results.
More research is needed on satisfaction levels before and after micropigmentation in order to quantify the effects of the procedure.
Micropigmentation is recommended for patients who undergo breast reconstruction and should be practiced by specialized professionals who have joined the multidisciplinary teams involved in the reconstruction process.
