Introducción: la siguiente revisión bibliográfica tiene como objetivos conocer qué alteraciones funcionales se presentan en pacientes con hiperplasia benigna de próstata, la utilidad del estudio urodinámico invasivo en el análisis inicial y en el seguimiento de estos, así como el impacto de la realización del estudio urodinámico sobre el planteamiento terapéutico. Para ello, se ha realizado una búsqueda sistemática y ordenada de la evidencia bibliográfica existente y disponible en Cochrane Library y PubMed.
Objetivo: aliviar la obstrucción y los síntomas del tracto urinario inferior. Dado que no existe tratamiento alternativo eficaz, los resultados del estudio urodinámico rara vez interfieren en la decisión terapéutica. La realización sistemática de un estudio urodinámico previo a la cirugía sigue siendo un tema controvertido. No existe evidencia que implique su realización de rutina.
Introduction: the following literature review aims to identify the functional alterations that occur in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia, the usefulness of invasive urodynamic studies in the initial analysis and follow-up of these patients, as well as the impact of conducting the urodynamic study on the therapeutic approach. For this purpose, a systematic and organized search of the existing and available bibliographic evidence was conducted in the Cochrane Library and PubMed.
Objective: to relieve obstruction and symptoms of the lower urinary tract. Since there is no effective alternative treatment, the results of the urodynamic study rarely interfere with the therapeutic decision-making. The systematic performance of a urodynamic study prior to surgery remains a controversial issue. There is no evidence to support its routine performance.
