Mujer de 71 años, fue derivada desde emergencias al hospital tras despertarse con un dolor torácico opresivo. Sus antecedentes incluyen dislipemia, cardiopatía isquémica, Parkinson, hipotiroidismo, fibromialgia, entre otros. Al llegar al hospital, se encontraba consciente y orientada, con una presión arterial de 150/100 mmHg y una frecuencia cardíaca de 109 lpm. No presenta alergias ni hábitos tóxicos y ha sido sometida a cirugías de histerectomía y apéndice en el pasado.
Durante su espera, se le realizó una entrevista. Ella vive con su esposo, su principal cuidador. Tienen cuatro hijos que viven lejos, pero mantienen una relación cercana y se visitan cuando es posible. A pesar de su situación, el marido se siente comprometido a cuidar de ella. La paciente es polimedicada y el marido gestiona su medicación. A pesar de su Parkinson, es independiente para comer, sigue una dieta vegetariana y es consciente de la importancia de mantenerse activa, aunque necesita ayuda para la higiene personal y vestirse. Recientemente ha empezado a recibir ayuda a domicilio.
La paciente ha notado que su movilidad ha disminuido, y el sueño ya no es reparador. Se siente desanimada por la progresión de sus enfermedades, especialmente por los temblores del Parkinson. Además, ha tenido problemas para ir al baño, lo que le preocupa. En su tiempo libre, disfruta viendo televisión, leyendo revistas y sigue su fe.
A 71-year-old woman was referred from the emergency room to the hospital after waking up with oppressive chest pain. Her medical history includes dyslipidemia, ischemic heart disease, Parkinson’s, hypothyroidism, fibromyalgia, among others. Upon arrival at the hospital, she was conscious and oriented, with a blood pressure of 150/100 mmHg and a heart rate of 109 bpm. She has no allergies or toxic habits and has undergone hysterectomy and appendix surgeries in the past.
During her wait, she was interviewed. She lives with her husband, her primary caregiver. They have four children who live far away, but they maintain a close relationship and visit each other when possible. Despite her situation, the husband feels committed to caring for her. The patient is on multiple medications and the husband manages her medication. Despite her Parkinson’s, she is independent in eating, follows a vegetarian diet, and is aware of the importance of staying active, although she needs help with personal hygiene and dressing. She has recently started receiving home help. The patient has noticed that her mobility has decreased, and her sleep is no longer restful. She feels discouraged by the progression of her illnesses, especially the tremors of Parkinson’s. In addition, she has had trouble going to the bathroom, which worries her. In her free time, she enjoys watching television, reading magazines, and following her faith.
