Depression is a common mental disorder. It involves a depressed mood or disinterest in activities over a long period of time1.
A 66-year-old man, accompanied by his wife, comes to the nurse’s office for the control of his diabetes. He is quiet and when questioned he answers slowly; he says that he finds it difficult to think. He says that he does not feel like anything and that he has neglected his diet. It is hard for him to get up, he would like to spend the whole day with his head covered and without talking to anyone; at night he sleeps very little, it is hard for him to fall asleep. When the nurse weighs him, he has lost 10 kg since the last check-up, he confirms the loss of appetite and even says that, to be like this, without illusion for anything, the best thing would be to get out of the way and not make his family suffer.
