La infección por el virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana es un importante problema de salud pública a nivel mundial. Gracias a los avances en el tratamiento antirretroviral, se ha conseguido frenar la replicación viral y con ello, su transmisión en aquellas personas que toman adecuadamente su tratamiento. Es por ello por lo que, la adherencia terapéutica para este tipo de pacientes es fundamental y el papel de los distintos profesionales sanitarios va dirigido a su control y mejora. Una adherencia inadecuada a la terapia antirretroviral es la causa principal de fracaso terapéutico, siendo fundamental su monitorización en los pacientes con infección por VIH/SIDA. Por ello, resulta de gran interés la formación y especialización de los profesionales de enfermería en el seno de los equipos multidisciplinares.
Human immunodeficiency virus infection is a major public health problem. Thanks to advances in antiretroviral treatment, it has been possible to stop viral replication and with it, its transmission in those people who take their treatment properly. That is why therapeutic adherence for this type of patients is essential and the role of the different health professionals is aimed at their control and improvement. Inadequate adherence to antiretroviral therapy is the main cause of therapeutic failure, its monitoring being crucial in patients with HIV/AIDS infection. For this reason, the training and specialization of nursing professionals within multidisciplinary teams is of great interest.
