Antecedentes: La Lactancia Materna (LM), es importante para el buen desarrollo del recién nacido, además refuerza el vínculo entre la madre y los hijos, generando beneficios como la reducción de enfermedades agudas, respiratorias y las gastrointestinales, así como la desnutrición. Por lo que es importante que el personal de salud tenga suficiente conocimiento sobre LM para asesorar y educar a las madres en cualquiera de las áreas de las unidades de primer nivel de atención.
Objetivo: Determinar la efectividad de una intervención educativa sobre Lactancia Materna Exclusiva en el personal de salud la UMF No. 61 Córdoba, Ver.
Material y métodos: Estudio longitudinal, analítico, cuasi experimento. Se realizó en la Unidad de Medicina Familiar No. 61 de Córdoba, Veracruz; incluyendo 71 participantes (médicos y enfermeras), a quienes se les aplicó el test ECoLa en dos momentos, antes de recibir una intervención educativa sobre LM y posterior a ésta. Se utilizó estadística descriptiva.
Resultados: La categoría de predominio fueron los médicos familiares con un 56.33%, seguido de los auxiliares de enfermería general con 12.67%. Al realizar el comparativo entre los resultados globales de ambas evaluaciones, podemos observar que la intervención educativa obtuvo resultados satisfactorios al incrementar el nivel de conocimiento relacionado a la Lactancia Materna en el personal de salud, encontrando que el nivel de conocimiento excelente cambio de un 1.40% a un 42.25%, el nivel bien pasó de un 5.6% a un 35.21%, el insuficiente de 36.6% a 12.6% y el muy insuficiente de 56.3% a un 9.85%.
Conclusiones: Es necesario brindar capacitación continua con respecto a LM, además de dar a conocer la normativa nacional e internacional vigente relacionada, ya que una vez realizadas las intervenciones educativas se puede observar que los resultados relacionados al nivel de conocimiento mejoran considerablemente.
Background: Breastfeeding (BF) is important for the good development of the newborn, it also reinforces the bond between mother and children, generating benefits such as the reduction of acute, respiratory and gastrointestinal diseases, as well as malnutrition. Therefore, it is important that health personnel have sufficient knowledge about BF to advise and educate mothers in any of the areas of first-level care units.
Objective: Determine the effectiveness of an educational intervention on Exclusive Breastfeeding in health personnel at UMF No. 61 Córdoba, Ver.
Material and methods: Longitudinal, analytical study, quasi-experiment. It was carried out in the Family Medicine Unit No. 61 of Córdoba, Veracruz; including 71 participants (doctors and nurses), to whom the ECoLa test was applied in two moments, before receiving an educational intervention on BF and after it. Descriptive statistics were used.
Results: The predominant category was family doctors with 56.33%, followed by general nursing assistants with 12.67%. When making the comparison between the global results of both evaluations, we can see that the educational intervention obtained satisfactory results by increasing the level of knowledge related to breastfeeding in health personnel, finding that the level of excellent knowledge changed by 1.40 % to 42.25%, the good level went from 5.6% to 35.21%, the insufficient level from 36.6% to 12.6% and the very insufficient level from 56.3% to 9.85%.
Conclusions: It is necessary to provide continuous training regarding BF, in addition to making known the current national and international regulations related to it, since once the educational interventions have been carried out, it can be observed that the results related to the level of knowledge improve considerably.
