Antecedentes: La vasectomía es una alternativa a la esterilización femenina para las parejas que desean un método anticonceptivo permanente; sin embargo, existen muchos factores que juegan un papel en su baja aceptación, como factores sociodemográficos, económicos, bajo apoyo social y conocimientos y creencias inexactos sobre la vasectomía.
Objetivo. Determinar las creencias y actitudes hacia la vasectomía en hombres de 20 a 49 años en la Unidad de Medicina Familiar No 61 Córdoba.
Material y método: Se llevó a cabo un estudio observacional, prospectivo, transversal y analítico que incluyó a 345 pacientes de 20 a 49 años a quienes se les aplicó el cuestionario “Creencias y actitudes hacia la vasectomía en la Unidad de Medicina Familiar No. 61 Córdoba, Veracruz de septiembre a noviembre 2023. El análisis se llevó a cabo mediante estadística descriptiva, para variables cualitativas utilizando frecuencias y porcentajes; para variables cuantitativas moda, media y mediana; para la asociación de las variables escolaridad, estado civil paternidad responsable y creencias y actitudes hacia la vasectomía se utilizó Chi2, y paquetería GraphPad Prism 8.
Resultados: La edad media fue de 34.75±7.50 años. La escolaridad predominante fue media superior con 62.6%, 56.8% hombres en unión libre versus 43.2% casados y el 62.9% paternidad responsable. La puntuación global del cuestionario informó que el 58.0% de los hombres tienen actitud positiva hacia la vasectomía. No se identificó asociación entre puntaje global y las demás variables.
Conclusiones: La información errónea sobre la vasectomía puede ser una razón por la que los hombres que no se habían sometido a una vasectomía tuvieran actitudes más negativas sobre los posibles cambios en su vida sexual, el procedimiento y la recuperación.
Background: Vasectomy is an important alternative to female sterilization for couples who desire permanent contraception; There are barriers to its wider use in many places. However, there are many factors that play a role in its low acceptance, such as sociodemographic and economic factors, low social support, and inaccurate knowledge and beliefs about vasectomy.

Results: The mean age was 34.75±7.50 years. The predominant education was higher average with 62.6%, 56.8% men in common law versus 43.2% married and 62.9% responsible fatherhood. The global score of the questionnaire reported that 58.0% of men have a positive attitude. No association was identified between global score and the other variables.
Conclusions: Misinformation about vasectomy may be one reason why men who had not had a vasectomy had more negative attitudes about potential changes to their sex life, the procedure, and recovery.
